Nepal can achieve rapid development under the leadership of young people: Dr.Bhattarai

New Delhi

Former Prime Minister of Nepal Baburam Bhattarai has said that Nepal can achieve rapid development under the leadership of young people.
Speaking at the Prime Ministerial Round Table session during the NXT 2026 Global Summit in New Delhi, Bhattarai expressed confidence that the rise of a new generation in politics could push Nepal toward faster economic and social progress.
He said that with ongoing political changes and increasing access to technology, Nepal now has the opportunity to move forward alongside the rest of the world instead of remaining at the bottom of the development ladder. According to him, the expansion of the internet, artificial intelligence, and other modern technologies has empowered a new generation that is challenging the traditional political system and stepping forward to lead the country.
Bhattarai also stressed that Nepal should no longer see itself as a country “trapped” between two large neighbors, but rather become a dynamic bridge connecting the growing economies of India and China. He said Nepal can benefit by maintaining balanced relations with both countries and adapting its foreign policy to the changing geopolitical environment.
He further noted that the rapid progress in technology and the Fourth Industrial Revolution requires a shift in political thinking. Traditional models of representative democracy, he said, should evolve toward more participatory and inclusive systems that reflect the needs of the 21st century.
Bhattarai attended the NXT 2026 Global Summit in New Delhi as a guest of honor, where global leaders and policymakers discussed issues such as governance, technology, international relations, and development.
