A proposal for Bagmati Province to maintain only eight ministries
A proposal has been presented in Bagmati Province to maintain only eight ministries, including the Chief Minister’s office, and cut 701 government posts. The plan suggests keeping a total of eight ministries in the province, including the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers office, while eliminating unnecessary ministries, offices, and staff positions to streamline the administrative structure and reduce expenditures.
According to the proposal, 701 staff positions could be cut, which is expected to result in significant long-term financial savings. The proposal was submitted to the Bagmati Provincial Government by the Province Administrative Restructuring Review and Suggestion Committee. The committee has recommended reducing the number of ministries, removing redundant bodies, and aims to save over NPR 16 billion in financial liabilities.

The restructuring plan is part of an effort to make the provincial administration more efficient, reduce overlapping functions, and ensure that government resources are used effectively.
